The Drywall Superintendent leads all field operations for drywall and finishes on commercial projects. This position provides direction to foremen and crews, ensures efficient execution of framing, hanging, finishing, ceilings, and insulation, and drives quality, safety, and schedule performance through strong coordination with project leadership, trades, and suppliers.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead and manage all field operations related to drywall and associated finishes.
  • Supervise self-perform drywall crews and subcontractors, ensuring efficient workflows and high-quality workmanship.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute all aspects of self-perform scopes including metal framing, hanging, taping, finishing, ceilings, and insulation.
  • Work closely with the Workforce Coordinator to schedule and allocate manpower across self-perform tasks.
  • Provide daily direction and leadership to foremen and drywall field crews.
  • Monitor crew productivity, address bottlenecks, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Support crew development through on-the-job training, coaching, and skills assessments.
  • Promote a culture of accountability and pride in craftsmanship within self-perform teams.
  • Coordinate drywall phases with project leadership, other trades, and suppliers.
  • Interpret plans and specifications specific to drywall scope, layout, and finish levels.
  • Monitor material deliveries and inventory to prevent schedule delays.
  • Approve field-level purchases and submit RFIs as necessary.
  • Identify and resolve constructability issues in real-time.
  • Enforce compliance with safety standards, procedures, and protocols.
  • Participate in preconstruction and project planning activities.
  • Foster a collaborative and solution-oriented jobsite culture.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience:

 

  • Preferred: 5+ years as a Superintendent or Foreman in commercial drywall or general contracting.
  • Sector experience in Healthcare, Higher Ed, Data Centers, or Life Sciences is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated success with drywall scopes on large-scale new construction, renovations, and tenant fit-outs.
  • Hands-on experience with self-perform drywall trades including framing, hanging, finishing, ceilings, and insulation.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Solid work history and a record of safe, profitable project delivery.
  • Experience supporting preconstruction and planning efforts is a plus.
  • Relevant trade certifications or accreditations welcomed.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Demands: 

 

Work is often performed outside under any type of weather conditions. Exposure to varying degrees/amounts of heat, cold, dust, dampness, ice, precipitation and mud. Must be able to: Climb and maintain balance on scaffolds and ladders; Use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects and materials; Lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds repetitively to meet the physical demands of our industry. Stand or walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for long periods of time. Must have acceptable vision (either naturally or with correction).
