Responsibilities

Duties:

  • Inspect, repair, and maintain construction equipment, including but not limited to:
    • Bobcats
    • Komatsu excavators
    • Link-Belt and Grove cranes
    • Snorkel scissor lifts and boom lifts
    • Case rubber-tired hoes
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in construction machinery.
  • Adjust equipment settings and replace faulty parts or systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and servicing machine components.
  • Clean and service machine attachments and specialized tools.
  • Drive to job sites or perform maintenance and repairs at the construction yard.
  • Report damaged or faulty equipment to management promptly.
  • Maintain accurate logs of maintenance and repairs.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair small construction tools and equipment, including Honda small engines, generators, and Stihl cutoff saws.
  • Perform light fabricating work as needed to repair or maintain equipment.
  • Conduct trailer light repairs as required.

Qualifications

Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with construction equipment: Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and engine systems specific to heavy machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics for heavy equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for construction equipment.
  • Light fabrication skills for equipment modifications and repairs.
  • Must be punctual, reliable, and willing to learn new systems and equipment.
  • Excellent attitude and work ethic.
  • Tools: Must have your own set of tools appropriate for heavy equipment maintenance and repair.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with construction equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Any relevant mechanic certifications are a plus (e.g., diesel engine repair, hydraulic systems).
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, often under varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and mud. Must be able to:

  • Climb ladders and maintain balance.
  • Use arms and hands to handle tools and manipulate parts.
  • Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds repetitively.
  • Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for extended periods of time.
  • Maintain acceptable vision (naturally or with correction) to safely operate and inspect equipment.
